11월 12일부터 14일까지 3일간 여주본부도장에서 김치를 담갔다. 첫날 직접 재배한 배추 2만여 포기를 수확해 소금물에 절였으며, 둘째 날은 절인 배추를 씻고 물기를 빼는 작업을 진행했다. 마지막 날에는 양념을 버무려 김치를 담갔다. 이번에 재배한 배추는 최근 괴산에서 개발에 성공한 황금배추라는 품종이다. 일반 배추보다 수분 함량이 적은 대신 아삭한 식감과 풍부한 식이섬유 함량으로 고기능성 식품으로 인정받고 있어 도인들의 입맛과 건강관리에 도움이 될 듯하다.
